Saira is Head of Nuveen Equities and Fixed Income, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and a member of the Executive Management Team. She leads a business with more than $1 trillion in assets under management1across equities, global fixed income, EIC, municipal bonds, multi-asset strategies, private placements, public real assets and C-PACE lending, along with driving weekly market and investment insights and delivering client asset allocation views from across the firm’s investment teams.

Saira also leads Nuveen’s Global Investment Committee (GIC), bringing together the firm’s most senior investment leaders to deliver actionable portfolio allocation ideas for our clients and authoring a weekly market commentary.

Since joining the firm in 2003, Saira has held a variety of positions. Prior to being named CIO, she was head of global equities portfolio management and head of global equities research. Previously, Saira was with JP Morgan Asset Management, where her roles included small cap growth portfolio manager.

Saira holds the CFA designation and graduated with a B.S. in Economics from California Polytechnic State University and an M.S. in Finance from the University of Wisconsin. She frequently appears on financial news networks such as CNBC and Bloomberg. Saira was recognized as one of Pensions & Investments “Most Influential Women in Institutional Investing” in 2023 and has been profiled in Kiplinger’s and Barron’s, which ranked her among the top 100 most influential women in U.S. finance for five years in a row, from 2020-2024. Since 2022, she has been named as one of LinkedIn’s “Top Voices in Finance”.

Eric May Eric May Director, Federal Government Relations TIAA

Eric May is a Director of Federal Government Relations for TIAA – the leading provider of retirement services for those in academic, research, medical, and cultural fields – where he advocates on federal financial services and securities issues before Congress and the Administration.

Prior to joining TIAA, Eric spent over a decade working for Congress in both the House and Senate, including over five years working for Members of the House Financial Services Committee.

Eric is a graduate of the University of Arkansas and a Texas native. Eric and his wife, Alexandra, have one son and two dogs.

Jeff Carlin Moderator: Jeff Carlin SMD, Head of Global Wealth Distribution Nuveen

Jeff is Senior Managing Director, Head of Global Wealth Advisory Services at Nuveen, and a member of the Senior Leadership Team. He is responsible for leading the placement, distribution and support of all products through the U.S. Wealth distribution channel. Jeff is also a member of the Nuveen business leadership team, which directs overall strategy, leads firm initiatives, and is accountable for the business results of our combined product and distribution teams, working closely with Nuveen affiliates to support and execute on our collective goals.

Jeff has held various roles at Nuveen, including head of distribution for structured products and national sales manager for the wirehouse and private wealth channels. Prior to joining the firm, Jeff was national sales manager for IndexIQ, a leading innovator of alternative investment ETFs. Before that, he was responsible for the managed accounts business at Charles Schwab & Co., and regional director in northern California for Smith Barney’s Consulting Group.

Jeff graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Finance and Real Estate, from San Diego State University. He is a current member of the Money Management Institute (MMI) and is a member of the Board of Governors. He is also a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) and was a member of the board of directors from 2008–2011. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst®designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.
