Gerold Koch, Director of Product Development, ESG and Index Investing, DWS met with Julie Cooling, Founder & CEO, RIA Channel to discuss their passive ESG solutions. While Koch acknowledges that passive ESG strategies may not have the same deep impact as actively managed micro funds, he points to an ETF’s ability to deploy a lot of capital quickly and have a more broad, widespread impact on the market. In 2019, DWS launched the first S&P 500 ESG Index tracked ETF, SNPE. The data driven strategy takes a best-in-class approach while also excluding controversial sectors and global norms violations.
