Jeff deGraaf is the founder and Chairman of Renaissance Macro Research LLC, an independent macro research boutique firm based in New York. Jeff has become one of Wall Street’s most influential macro-based analysts over the last decade, ranked as the #1 technical analyst over the last 10 years and now in Institutional Investor’s Research Hall of Fame. Prior to starting Renaissance Macro Research, Jeff spent the early part of his career at Merrill Lynch and then Lehman Brothers, where he served on the firm’s investment policy committee as a Managing Director. In 2007, Jeff moved to ISI as an Executive Managing Director, also serving on the firm’s management committee and heading the firm’s investment policy committee. A member of the NYSSA, MTA, and CFA, and a CMT charter holder, Jeff is often quoted in Barron’s and The Wall Street Journal and in various media outlets or found on the financial speaking circuit around the world. With his baseball days at Michigan State University long behind him, Jeff is now an avid skier, golfer, and collector of Wall Street historical artifacts. He resides in Connecticut with his wife and their three boys.

Neil Dutta Neil Dutta Head of U.S. Economics RenMac

As Head of U.S. Economics, Neil Dutta leads our economic research efforts, analyzing global trends and cross market investment themes. Neil joins RenMac after spending seven years at Bank of America-Merrill Lynch, where he was a senior economist with responsibilities for both the United States and Canada. Prior to that, he was an analyst at Barron’s, the Dow Jones Financial Weekly.

Dutta has appears frequently on Bloomberg TV and CNBC and has been quoted by the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Associated Press, and Bloomberg News for his insights on the outlook for such topics as interest rates, inflation, the manufacturing sector, employment and consumer spending.

Mr. Dutta graduated Cum Laude from New York University with Bachelor’s Degrees in Economics and Political Science.

In his spare time, Neil travels the world and is an avid tennis player. He currently resides in New York City with his wife, Puja.

Steve Pavlick Steve Pavlick Washington Policy Analyst RenMac

Steve is a trusted public policy advisor and advocate with more than a decade of experience in Washington policy. As the Head of Policy at Renaissance Macro, Steve helps buy-side clients identify opportunities and price political, legislative, and regulatory risks in today’s dynamic public policy environment. Steve has appeared on Bloomberg Television, Yahoo Finance and China Global Television Network (CGTN) to discuss current policy issues. He has also been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Barron’s, Market Watch, the South China Morning Post and other leading publications.

Prior to Renaissance Macro, Steve served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. There, he led Treasury’s engagement with the Senate and House of Representatives on the Department’s International Affairs portfolio. Steve helped secure passage of Trade Promotion Authority, the IMF quota reforms, and he represented Treasury before Congress on CFIUS, the Financial Stability Board, the Basel Committee, and export credits. Steve also led Treasury’s congressional engagement on the Foreign Investment Risk Review Modernization Act of 2018 (FIRRMA).

Before the Treasury Department, Steve served as the Economic Portfolio Presidential Appointments Lead for the Presidential Transition Team. In that role, he identified senior officials to serve in Trump administration positions.

Steve worked on Capitol Hill for Senate Majority Bill Frist, Senator George Allen and the National Republican Senatorial Committee. He has also worked in the private sectors as Research Director at the Cypress Group and as a registered lobbyist for both Rolls-Royce and Northrop Grumman.

Steve has Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. Steve also graduated from Gonzaga College High School where he captained both the football and lacrosse teams.

Steve lives in Potomac, MD with his wife Rachel.
