American Century’s Greenblath On A Multi-Sector Approach to Fixed Income

Jason Greenblath, VP, Senior Portfolio Manager & Director of Corporate Credit Research, American Century Investments joined Julie Cooling, Founder & CEO, RIA Channel to discuss 2022 opportunities in fixed income and why advisors should consider an actively managed multi-sector approach.

Today’s historically low default rates coupled with consistent GDP growth creates a lot of opportunity in high yield, bank loans and CLOs sectors, explains Greenblath. While persistent inflation and geopolitical risk are factors to consider and have the potential to strain certain parts of the credit market, Greenblath points to the power of tactical allocation and research driven investment strategies to mitigate some of that risk. Active managers are also well-equipped to capitalize on volatility and dislocations in the credit market, generating additional alpha potential for investors.

American Century’s multi-sector fixed income strategies allows investors to enjoy the combined benefits of diversified exposure to winning fixed income sectors and the alpha potential of active management.

“The multi-asset approach allows us to be nimble and take advantage of opportunities in the bond market, the bank loan market and an asset allocation approach where we can harness our good security selection and navigate different parts of the fixed income market as we see opportunities,” says Greenblath.
