Technology may help advisors succeed in an increasingly demanding market. The RIA industry is becoming increasingly competitive as the industry is consolidating into a smaller number of larger firms operating at thinner margins. At the same time, clients are demanding a broader range of services and an increasing level of customization. To remain competitive, advisors are encouraged to continually review the services they offer to clients and the technology that facilitates those services. For example, offering personalization to clients may require moving from ETFs to a custom portfolio of individual securities tailored around client values, tax optimization as well as each client’s unique goals and timeline.
