Pedro Palandrani, Head of Product Research & Development at Global X ETFs, joined Julie Cooling, Founder and CEO of RIA Channel, to discuss asset growth in the firm’s thematic ETF lineup.
Global X ETFs attracted $6 billion in net new assets through September 2024, much of that in the firm’s well-known thematic ETFs. Global X manages the world’s largest thematic ETF, U.S. Infrastructure Development (PAVE) with $9.6 billion in AUM. PAVE doesn’t invest in operators of infrastructure assets, such as airports or seaports, but specializes in the development process of infrastructure assets by investing in engineering, construction, and materials companies. The infrastructure development sector is likely to see continued strong revenue from the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act. The newly launched Defense Tech ETF (SHLD) quickly reached $700 million in AUM.
In addition to thematic ETFs, Global X manages covered call strategies with monthly income distributions. These include the $8 billion Nasdaq 100 Covered Call ETF (QYLD) and the $2.9 billion S&P 500 Covered Call ETF (XYLD). Global X also offers a series of ETFs managing short-term, intermediate-term, and long-term fixed income ladders, including Long-Term Treasury Ladder ETF (LLDR).
