Invesco’s McCormack On 25 Years Of QQQ

Ryan T. McCormack, Senior Factor & Core Equity Strategist ETFs & Indexed Strategies at Invesco, joined Julie Cooling, Founder and CEO of RIA Channel, to discuss the 25-year history of Invesco QQQ.

To celebrate 25 years of Invesco QQQ, Invesco partnered with world-famous chefs to produce a video series, Recipe for Innovation. Each chef was tasked with creating an innovative recipe inspired by a company in the NASDAQ 100 Index.

Given the popularity of QQQ and the innovations in ETF technology over the years, Invesco has launched a number of ETFs branching off of the original idea of QQQ.  QQQ was launched as a unit investment trust, but Invesco’s new launches take the structure of ETFs.

The four-year-old Invesco NASDAQ 100 ETF (QQQM) has already reached $30 billion in AUM. QQQM is five basis points cheaper than QQQ and is an open-ended ETF that can engage in securities lending.  QQQM can reinvest dividends, which creates lower cash balances and a lower tracking error to the NASDAQ 100 Index.

The Invesco QQQ Income Advantage ETF (QQA) combines an active options overlay strategy with exposure to the NASDAQ 100 Index. The Invesco NASDAQ Next Gen 100 ETF (QQQJ) provides exposure to non-financial stocks with market capitalizations smaller than those included in the NASDAQ 100 Index. The Invesco NASDAQ Free Cash Flow Achievers ETF (QOWZ) provides exposure to stocks that have earned positive free cash flow for at least the last eleven years.
