Limitless’ Bogan On How To Be Successful And Happy

Stephanie Bogan, Founder and Chief Possibility Officer for Limitless, joined Julie Cooling, Founder and CEO of RIA Channel, to discuss how coaching can help advisors improve success and happiness.

After starting and selling her first firm, Bogan retired for five years. Michael Kitces calls Limitless Bogan’s encore career, as she started the firm in her unretirement phase of life.  Bogan started Limitless because of what she learned during her retirement to the beach in Costa Rica. A journey to be both successful and happy drove her to study mindset, behavioral psychology, and neuroscience. Bogan states that the science of our success is in our own behavior. Building a great and profitable business can make someone successful but not necessarily happy or satisfied.

Limitless combines executive coaching and mindset to assist business owners in accelerating their success while having the time and the freedom to enjoy it. Coaching asks about the whys and whats of behavior.  The Lifestyle program helps advisors reach $1 million while taking 100 days off each year, such as Fridays and eight weeks off.  The Leaders program coaches the founders of firms who wish to scale beyond $100 million.

Leaders are conditioned to ask questions such as: Is it working or growing?  What they haven’t been asking is whether what they are doing feels good or if they are sacrificing their personal life to create professional success. Bogan believes that success needs to be redefined beyond accomplishments.

Bogan works with advisors on how to create a culture in a remote working environment.  While many firms continue to work remotely, Bogan believes it is important to have a regular cadence of in-person meetings, such as quarterly. A remote or hybrid work model must allow for the hiring and training of new talent. The team can check in regularly from remote locations to keep advised of developments within the firm.
