Savant began in Rockford, Illinois in 1986 when Thomas Muldowney created its predecessor, Savant Planning Group, Ltd. He believed people needed unbiased financial advice, not suspicious advice given seemingly for free only for the client to be solicited a commissioned product. In response to this frustration, he built his own fee-only planning practice that started to see success.
In 1992, he joined forces with Brent Brodeski and their research lead them to a no-load, index-based investment approach with low portfolio turnover, low cost, low taxes, and global diversification. They believed this approach would best meet the needs of their clients while still giving their clients the amount of control that they want in their family and estate matters.
It was with these principals in mind that created the independent, fee-only wealth management firm that Savant is today.
