Kate Healy, Managing Director, Generation Next, TD Ameritrade met with Julie Cooling, Founder & CEO, RIA Channel to discuss how RIA’s can attract and engage the next generation of Financial Advisors.
2019’s TD National Link marked it’s 10th year welcoming students to the event. “It’s really exciting to see people who were here as students, now here as advisors,” says Healy on the Generation Next initiative. Over the last decade, TD has developed a close partnership with universities across the country, as well as sponsor a number of programs, scholarships and grants to encourage new talent to join the industry.
“Working with the schools is the best pipeline for talent,” believes Healy. Advisors taking advantage of interns, lunch and learns, and adjunct teaching opportunities, can help students gain valuable exposure to the RIA model, while also giving back to their local university.
Additionally, Generation Next aims to bring more diversity into the financial services industry. Last Fall, TD was lead sponsor to the CFP Board’s first annual industry Diversity Summit, and has helped expand its mentorship program to anyone studying for the CFP.
