Ali Meli is the Founder, CIO and Managing Partner of Monachil Capital Partners. Originally from Tehran, Iran, Ali came to the United States to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2001, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Management Science. Ali joined Goldman Sachs as an analyst in 2004 and by 2011 was appointed European Co-Head of Principal Funding and Investments. He made Partner in 2014 and in 2016, having returned to NY, Ali was named Global Co-Head of Structured Finance, Investing and Lending (SFIL) and asked to oversee the firm’s activities across various markets and asset classes including credit, mortgages, commodities and emerging markets.
Ali founded Monachil in 2019, which launched the Monachil Private Credit Fund in 2020 and the Monachil Credit Income Fund in 2022. Ali plays a primary role in all investment decisions and oversees deal origination and structuring, including negations and portfolio construction. |
