Michael Goosay is the CIO and Global Head of Fixed Income for Principal Asset Management, overseeing the fixed income platform and serving as a portfolio manager on Short-Term Income, Core, and Core Plus mandates. Goosay joined Principal Asset Management in 2023. Previously, he spent 14 years at Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM), where he most recently held the role of Global Head of Multi Sector, Long Duration, and LDI Portfolio Management and also served as a multi sector portfolio manager. Prior to GSAM, Goosay worked as a portfolio manager and fixed income trader at Drake Management, JPMorgan, and Prudential. Goosay earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Albright College and an MBA in finance from the Rutgers University Graduate School of Management.

Mark Cernicky, CFA Mark Cernicky, CFA Senior Product Specialist Principal Fixed Income

Mark is a senior product specialist at Principal Fixed Income. He is primarily responsible for marketing our fixed income mutual funds, SMAs, and ETFs; and communicating with investors through presentations and thought capital. Mark has over 20 years of investment-related experience managing and marketing fixed income portfolios across taxable and tax-exempt strategies. Mark joined the firm in 2011 as Managing Director – Global Fixed Income. Before joining Principal Asset Management, Mark was a portfolio manager responsible for alternative credit strategies, Head of North American Product Development and responsible for RIA channel development for Aviva Investors. Prior to Aviva, Mark worked as a portfolio manager for DKR Varick, a credit hedge fund and as a derivatives structurer for Goldman Sachs. Mark graduated with MBA high honors from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, has a BA from Washington University (St. Louis) and has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Joshua Rank, CFA Joshua Rank, CFA Portfolio Manager Principal Fixed Income

Joshua is a portfolio manager at Principal Fixed Income, with responsibility for high yield and leveraged loan strategies. He joined the firm in 2013. Prior to his current role, Joshua was a vice president, senior high yield portfolio manager at Aviva Investors Americas. He received a bachelor’s degree in finance from Iowa State University. Josh holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Iowa.
