Robert F. Smith is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Vista Equity Partners. Vista invests exclusively in enterprise software businesses through private equity, private credit and permanent capital strategies and currently has over $100 billion in assets under management. Smith directs Vista’s investment strategy and capital formation efforts and oversees the governance of the firm. Since founding Vista, he has supervised more than 600 completed transactions, representing over $320 billion in aggregate value. In recognition of Smith’s innovative approach to investing in software businesses and his leadership in the asset management industry, Forbes named him one of the “100 Greatest Living Business Minds” in 2017. He was also recognized as one of TIME100’s “Most Influential People” in 2020 and received the Committee for Economic Development’s Distinguished Leadership Award in 2024. Smith holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Sean Cahill joined Vista Equity Partners in 2024. Mr. Cahill focuses on engagement and client development for Vista’s RIA and multi-family office partners. Prior to joining Vista, Mr. Cahill was a Vice President at Blue Owl Capital, where he managed the firm’s relationships with RIAs and family offices in the Midwest. Previously, Mr. Cahill was a Senior Associate at Owl Rock Capital, Blue Owl’s predecessor firm, where he supported the firm’s private wealth fundraising initiatives. Mr. Cahill began his career with Legg Mason Global Asset Management. Mr. Cahill holds a B.A in Philosophy, Politics and the Public from Xavier University.
